Welcome to ankur bansal's site INFOSYS PAPER ON 10th OCTOBER AT HYDERABAD
Hi fnds I appeared 4 infosys selection process on 10th Octomber 2006 (Sunday) at HYDERABAD.In my point of view infosys SP is very easssy. Why bcoze there is no technical intviw & GDS. Only written test followed by HR interview. I solved all 10 puzzles correctly. If U clear written test then u no need 2 worry abt HR intviw, these is only formal intevw. So I wuld like 2 share my experience with u d guys. My experience may helpful 2 u.
THERE R 2 SECTIONS:
1.OPTITUDE TEST: Which includes logical reasng, numerical reasng, puggles of 10 qusns with 50 marks, 1hr. time. 4 this u have 2 prepare at least 25+ previous papers.
Before tat u have to gone throw SHAKUNTALA DEVI 2 Puzzle books.
1.PUZZLES TO PUZZLES U
2.MORE PUZZLES.
That is more than enough. In these books some qsns are there which are difficult to remember &understand, leave thm .60+% qsnz are coming fm previous papers, so be touch with tht papers. Each section has its own cutoff marks, so both r imps.
2. ENGLISH TEST: The pattern is like this. Thre r 45 qsns with 30 mnts time, time is very less. These are all based on BASSICS OF ENGLISH GRAMMER nothing else..
a)[1-6 QNS],passage given,fm tht u hve to ansr these 6 qsns.It will take more time, so answer it at the last.
b)[7-11 QNS],fill in d blanks with appropriate word 4 options.
c)[12-21 QNS],tenses, thre is passage with 10 lines ,u hve to fill correct ansr fm 4 options.
d)[22-26 QNS]indications of sentence which has error from 4 sentences.
e)[27-32 QNS],mark the correct statement from the pairs .
f) [33-38QSNS],select the best word/phase/line to complete the sentence.
g)[38-45 QSNS],Choose the correct word to fill the sentence. These article, prepostion ,conjtns based qsns.
NOTE: If u r strong in English grammar then no need 2 prepares 4 English sections can concentrate on aptitude section. If u r weak in English then u shud spend more time 4 English section preparation than puzzles & prepare previous papers thts enough. Though u slove all 10 puzzles, u may not short-listed 4-interview bcoze of English. So be prepare 4 English.
QUESTIONS ON APPTITUDE TEST:
1) X^1/3 -X^1/9 = 60.then find X? (3marks)
2) There was a cycle race going on. 1/5th of those in front of a person and 5/6 of those behind him gives the total number of participants. How many people took part in the race? (3 marks). ( 4 marks)
Here is the pattern dear frnds 1.logical reasoning (30 ques) 40 min 2.English section (40 ques) 35 min For logical reasoning go through rs aggarwal, the imp chapters well, that’s enough but do them thoroughly.
The logical section consisted of the following ques.... 1.2 puzzle tests of 10 marks..... .(just go thru RS AGARWAL its more than enough.....). 2.5 series figure ques of 5 marks .its like odd figure out – very easy( go thru RS AGARWAL...NON VERBAL SECTION more than enough). 3.5 ques on data sufficiency .questions in this section were so easy try to do data sufficiency first u can complete in 3-4 mins . some are given below. 1.PQR is an isosceles triangle. What’s the length of PQ? a. The length of QR is 7. b. The angle of PQR is 90 degree. Ans: both are sufficient for conclusion. 2. What’s the ratio of length of the line segment PQ to the length of arc PQ, when PQ forms the arc of a circle? a. Area of circle is168. b. The segment PQ forms the diameter of circle. Ans: both are sufficient for conclusion. 3. Are two triangles congruent? a. Both triangles are right angled. b. Both are of same perimeter. Ans: both are not sufficient for conclusion 4. In what time the cylinder completes one rotation? a. Radius of cylinder is given. b. Speed (angular) is given. Ans: both are sufficient for conclusion 4.5 ques on logical reasoning or syllogism... (Go thru rs agarwal also go thru the LR part of the cat material) 5. Data interpretation of 5 ques (Just go thru the rs agarwal aptitude book......it is best as i preffered the same) INFOSYS WRITTEN TEST ON 14th JULY,2006 AT Combined Campus, MAIT, DELHI
The written test comprised of 10 questions and was of 50 marks. The cut off must have been around 35.Time allotted was one hour
Q1) Very simple question, actually a sitter…Like
Azhar scores 26 runs less than Dravid, Dravid scores these many more than Jadeja, and so on for 5 players….And were asked to find total runs scored.
Simple Equations lead to individual runs of players and answer was deduced..
It came 338 in our case… (3 marks)
Q2)A water tub has two taps to fill it and a drain pipe. One tap takes 10 minutes to completely fill the tub and other tap takes quarter of an hour to completely fill it. The drainage pipe can empty the tub in exactly 7 and a half minutes.

INFOSYS WRITTEN TEST(SOLUTIONS) 14th JULY,2006 MAIT,
Answers:
Ans 1) 338..no explanations
Ans 2) 30 minutes
Tap 1 fills 1/10 tub in a minute
Tap2 fills 1/15 tub in a minute
In one minute, tub filled by two taps = 1/10 + 1/15
Drainage pipe empties 2/15 tub in a minute(1/7.5)
Total tub filled in one minute= 1/10+1/15-(2/15)=1/30
So tub takes 30 minutes to fill.
Ans 3) Annie’s foot prints
I solved this question by hit and trail.
I first took Annie as truthful, then Fanny as truthful and then Danny as truthful and the answer was easily derivable….
Ans4) (a) 30
Separate even position terms and odd position terms, u will get
Even position terms: 4,8,12,16…….(multiples of four)
Odd position terms: 2,6,12,20…..(the difference between consecutive terms is in A.P….
Like 2+4=6
6+6=12
12+8=20
thus,20+10=30)
(b) 73
the series goes like this:
3
3*2=6
6+7=13
13*2=26
26+7=33
33*2=66
66+7=73
That is, multiply by two and add 7 alternatively.
Ans5) (a)8
(b)12
(c)6
(d)1
Pure analytical question, no explanation required.
Ans 6) 45 kmph
Let speed of car be x kmph
Let at first he sees digits as ‘ab’…that is the value of number is: 10a+b
After traveling for one hour, he sees the number as ‘ba’…thus its value is 10b+a
After traveling another hour,he sees the number as ‘a0b’…thus value is 100a+b
Now,
10a+b+x=10b+a..which gives x=9b-9a
10b+a+x=100a+b..which gives x=99a-9b
Equating we get,
b=6a
since ‘a’ and ‘b’ are digits, a=1 and b=6 and thus x=45
Ans7)84 years
Let the final age of man be ‘x’ years
He spent x/6 in childhood
He spent x/12 in youth
He spent x/7 as bachelor
and 5 years as bachelor
At the time of birth of his son, his age was: x/6+x/12+x/7+5
His son was of age x/2 when son died
At the death of his son, man’s age: x/6+x/12+x/7+5+x/2
According to question
x/6+x/12+x/7+5+x/2=x-4
solve for x
Ans 8)3 girls and 4 boys in family
let the number of girls in family be x
Thus, the number of boys in family =x+1
Since each girl have twice the number of bros than sis, thus
No of sis for a girl=x-1
No of bros for a girl=x+1
And, thus x+1=2(x-1)
Gives x=3
Ans9) 121
LCM of 2,3,4,5,6 is 60
Since they all leave remainder 1, the number should be 61,
But 61 is not divisible by 11
Next higher number divisible by 2,3,4,5,6 is 120 and adding the remainder becomes 121 which is divisible by 11 as well satisfying all the conditions
Ans 10)
A-Manager
B-Cashier
C-Floorwalker
D-Clerk
E-Buyer
From 1997-2002,data was given on students studied in different streams like arts ,commerce ,engineering, medical, agriculture and science. Questions were like.... 1.Number of students studying medicine is what %ge of no of students studying engineering?
2.% of Students studying commerce in yr 1999 is what % of students studying in all the yrs?(ans E(no one was correct)) ............... Like that.... questions in this section were easy but time consuming better try to approximate and save time..
English section....... it is as follows
